You can use Qwant as the search engine in Safari on Mac by either installing the Qwant extension or configuring Safari manually.
Install the Qwant Extension for Safari
The Qwant extension for Safari is available on the Mac App Store.
- Open the App Store on your Mac.
- Search for Qwant for Safari.
- Click Get then Install on the Qwant extension.
- Once installed, open Safari.
- In the Safari > Settings > Extensions menu, enable Qwant.
The extension sets Qwant as the default search engine and makes it easy to access from the address bar.
Manually Set Qwant as the Search Engine
Safari does not include Qwant in its native list of search engines. To use Qwant manually, you have two options:
- Open Safari.
- Go to the Safari > Settings > General menu.
- In the Homepage field, enter
https://www.qwant.com - Choose Homepage for both New windows open with and New tabs open with.

If the Extension Does Not Work
- Make sure it is enabled in Safari > Settings > Extensions.
- Grant the extension the requested permissions (to read the pages where you use it).
- Update Safari and macOS if a newer version is available.
