The Qwant extension for Chrome is the recommended way to easily use Qwant on your browser. It sets Qwant as your default search engine and homepage in just a few clicks.
Install the Extension from the Chrome Web Store
- Open Chrome.
- Go to the Qwant extension page on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm by clicking Add extension in the dialog box.
- The extension is installed and activated immediately.
What the Extension Does
Once installed, the Qwant extension:
- Sets Qwant as the default search engine in Chrome.
- Sets Qwant as the homepage for new tabs.
- Blocks trackers, reducing the number of cookies and ads.
- Allows you to launch a Qwant search directly from the address bar.
Disabling or Uninstalling the Extension
If you want to disable or remove the extension:
- Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) at the top right of Chrome.
- Select Manage extensions.
- Disable Qwant using the toggle switch, or click Remove to uninstall it completely.
The Extension is Hidden or Not Working
- Make sure it is enabled in the extensions manager.
- Pin it to the toolbar via the Extensions icon to make it visible.
- Restart Chrome after installation.
- If problems persist, uninstall and then reinstall the extension.
Prefer to Set Up Qwant Manually?
If you do not want to install an extension, you can set Qwant as your search engine and homepage manually, without an extension.
