What the Extension Does
Once installed, the Qwant extension:
- Sets Qwant as the default search engine in Brave.
- Allows you to perform a Qwant search directly from the address bar.
Disabling or Uninstalling the Extension
- Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) at the top right of Brave.
- Select Manage extensions.
- Disable Qwant using the toggle switch, or click Remove to uninstall it.
Brave and Qwant: Why Combine the Two?
Brave and Qwant share a common approach to privacy, but at different levels:
- Brave protects you from trackers and third-party ads while you browse.
- Qwant ensures your searches are not profiled.
Combining both enhances the privacy of your web experience. Note that Brave’s anti-tracking protections may occasionally block some secondary features of Qwant (AI responses, saving settings). If issues arise, add qwant.com to Brave’s exceptions.
Prefer to Set Up Qwant Manually?
If you don’t want to install an extension, you can set Qwant as your search engine directly in Brave’s settings.
