Qwant displays ads in its search results. Here’s how they work.
Contextual Ads, Not Behavioral
The ads shown on Qwant depend on your current search, not on a profile built from your history.
Specifically: if you type “hiking boots,” you will see ads related to those products. Qwant does not know that you searched for hiking last week, nor where you live.
How to Identify an Ad
Sponsored results are clearly marked (labeled “Ad”) and usually appear at the top of your results. You don’t pay anything: advertisers fund the search engine.
Who Chooses the Ads Displayed?
Qwant works with advertising partners to manage the ads. These partners receive your query to display a contextually relevant ad — without building a user profile. The current partner is listed at https://about.qwant.com/legal/confidentialite/
Disabling Ads
Ads are part of the business model that allows Qwant to be free. It is not possible to disable them directly in Qwant.
AI Responses Are Not Ads
The AI summaries at the top of the results are generated from indexed web pages, not ads.
