Don’t want to see AI-generated summaries at the top of your results? You can disable them in just a few seconds from your Qwant settings.
Disable Flash Answers in Settings
- Go to qwant.com.
- Click on the settings icon at the top right of the page.
- In the Customize your searches section, disable the “Flash Answer” option.
- Your settings are saved automatically if you are logged into your Qwant account. Otherwise, they are stored in your current browser.
You can reactivate AI answers at any time by following the same steps.
Why Are AI Answers Displayed by Default?
AI answers appear at the top of results when Qwant determines that a summary can help you find the right information faster, especially for factual searches. They are based on web pages indexed in our results and cite the sources used.
Default activation does not apply to all searches: AI only triggers for certain queries.
If Disabling Doesn’t Seem to Take Effect
Several reasons may explain why your settings are not saved:
- In private browsing, local settings are not saved. Log in to a Qwant account to have them saved.
- When switching browsers or devices without a Qwant account, each browser keeps its own settings.
- If you have recently cleared cookies, your local settings have been reset.
