Qwant does not track you. Here is exactly what is processed when you perform a search and what is not.
What is processed during a search
To generate your results, Qwant processes:
- Your search: the words you typed.
- Your IP address: necessary to return the response and prevent abuse.
- Your browser, language, and screen resolution: to adapt the display.
- The page viewed and the timestamp: for aggregated statistical analysis.
What is not associated with you
- Your search is not linked to your identity or a profile.
- Your IP address is not retained to build a personal history.
- You do not receive personalized results based on your previous searches.
If you are logged into a Qwant account, your identifier is not linked to your searches. The account is only used to save your preferences.
Cookies and audience measurement
Whether you accept cookies or not, Qwant processes only the data strictly necessary to display results and protect the service (security, abuse prevention). If you refuse, no non-essential trackers are placed. If you accept, additional cookies/trackers may be used (depending on your choices) to measure audience and improve the experience. Technical partners
Qwant works with partners for certain parts of the search. These partners may receive some technical data (your IP address, your query) solely to provide the service. They are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.
Hosting and retention period
- Technical data is hosted in Europe.
- It is retained for a limited time, for security and aggregated statistics.
- Account data is deleted upon closure, or automatically after 13 months of inactivity.
